Enrolment, Fees & Lesson Policies
At Melissa Corby’s Learn to Swim, we aim to keep our enrolment and payment policies simple, fair and flexible for families, while allowing us to maintain consistent class sizes and secure places for our swimmers.
By enrolling, you agree to the following policies and you are welcome to enrol when ever you are ready. No need to wait until the beginning of the next term, the sooner the better.
New Swimmers & First Lesson
We understand how important it is to make sure our program is the right fit for your child.
New swimmers may attend their first lesson before committing to their ongoing enrolment.
After the first lesson, if you are happy to continue, all applicable fees are paid upfront and in full to confirm and secure your child’s place in their allocated class.
One-Off Family Enrolment Fee
A one-off enrolment fee applies when a new family joins Melissa Corby’s Learn to Swim.
This fee applies once per family, not once per child.
You will not be required to pay another enrolment fee as long as your family continues to roll over from one term to the next.
If your family leaves the swim school and later decides to re-enrol, a new enrolment fee may apply.
How Our Rolling Term Payments Work
Our swimming fees operate slightly differently from a standard school-term payment system.
Each payment covers lessons from:
Week 3 of the current school term through to Week 2 of the following school term.
This means that Weeks 1 and 2 of each new term have already been paid for as part of your previous payment.
This two-week period provides families with some flexibility over the school holidays and at the beginning of the new term should their circumstances change or they decide not to continue swimming.
It also provides Melissa Corby’s Learn to Swim with enough notice to offer an available class position to another family.
Payment for the Following Term
For continuing swimmers, payment is due during Week 1 of each new school term to secure your child’s ongoing position.
Remember, your child's Weeks 1 and 2 have already been paid for through the previous term's payment.
Your new payment then covers your child's lessons from:
Week 3 of the current term → through to → Week 2 of the following term.
This rolling system continues for as long as your child remains enrolled.
If You Decide Not to Continue
If your child will not be continuing swimming lessons, please provide notice as early as possible.
Because Weeks 1 and 2 of the new term have already been included in your previous payment, your child may continue attending their regular lessons during these two weeks.
This notice period gives us time to organise our classes and offer your child's position to another swimmer.
Fees Are Paid Upfront
All swimming fees are paid upfront and in full.
Payment secures your child's regular place within their allocated class for the paid enrolment period.
Once payment has been made, fees are non-refundable.
Refunds are not provided for missed lessons, holidays, change of mind or choosing to discontinue lessons during the paid enrolment period.
Annual Fee Review
Swimming lesson fees are reviewed each year and may increase at the beginning of the financial year (1 July).
Families will be advised of any changes to fees before the new fees take effect.
Absences
We understand that children become unwell and that unexpected circumstances sometimes arise.
If your child cannot attend their regular lesson, please let us know as soon as possible.
Where possible, we kindly ask families to provide at least 24 hours' notice of an absence.
Even if it is a last-minute absence, please still let us know. We understand that sometimes circumstances are outside a family's control.
Make-Up Lessons
We will always try our best to accommodate a make-up lesson when your child has missed their regular swimming lesson.
Make-up lessons are offered subject to a suitable space being available in another class and therefore cannot always be guaranteed.
Providing at least 24 hours' notice of an absence gives us the best opportunity to manage class spaces and arrange make-up lessons.
However, we understand that last-minute situations happen. If less than 24 hours' notice is provided, please contact us anyway and we will still do our best to find a suitable make-up opportunity.
Make-Up Lessons Must Be Used Within the Same Paid Period
Any make-up lesson offered must be completed within the same paid term/payment period in which the original lesson was missed.
Make-up lessons cannot be:
carried over into another paid term
exchanged for cash
deducted from future swimming fees
refunded.
Make-up lessons are provided as a courtesy to families and remain subject to class availability.
Missed Make-Up Lessons
Once a make-up lesson has been arranged, please make every effort to attend.
If your child is unable to attend an arranged make-up lesson, another make-up lesson for the original absence may not be available.
Illness
Please do not bring your child swimming if they are unwell.
Children experiencing vomiting, diarrhoea, fever, a contagious illness or other symptoms that could affect the health and wellbeing of others should not attend swimming lessons.
Please contact us as soon as possible if illness prevents your child from attending.
Before Every Swimming Lesson
To help children arrive comfortable, prepared and ready to learn, please ensure your swimmer:
has a shower before entering the pool
goes to the toilet before their lesson
does not attend swimming if they are unwell
has eaten an appropriate small portion of food 1/2 hour before swimming, rather than a large meal immediately before their lesson
has suitable swimwear and a towel
arrives with enough time to be ready when their lesson begins.
Arriving on Time
Please arrive early enough for your child to use the toilet, shower, change and be ready for their scheduled lesson.
Lessons must start and finish on time so that every swimmer receives their allocated lesson time.
Unfortunately, arriving late cannot extend the scheduled finishing time of the lesson.
Parent & Carer Supervision
Parents and carers remain responsible for supervising their children before and after their swimming lesson.
Children must not enter the pool unless instructed to do so by their swimming teacher or an authorised staff member.
Any siblings or other children attending the facility must remain appropriately supervised by their parent or responsible carer.
Pool Safety
The safety of our swimmers is always our priority.
Children and families must follow the directions of their swimming teacher and all pool safety requirements.
Walking around the pool and wet areas is required at all times. Running is not permitted.
Unsafe behaviour may result in a swimmer being asked to leave the water.
Class Placement & Progression
Every child learns and develops at their own pace.
Children progress according to their individual swimming ability, confidence, readiness and skill development, rather than simply their age or how long they have attended lessons.
Melissa Corby’s Learn to Swim will determine the most appropriate class and level for each swimmer.
As your child develops, we may recommend moving them to another class or level to ensure they continue to be appropriately supported and challenged.
Teacher Changes
We aim to provide consistency for our swimmers wherever possible.
Occasionally, teachers may need to change due to illness, leave, staffing requirements or other circumstances. All lessons have a program to follow written by 30 experience, therefore it helps alot staff changers. Students know the program.
Lessons will continue to follow the Melissa Corby’s Learn to Swim program and teaching philosophy.
Respectful Environment
We are committed to providing a safe, welcoming and respectful environment for our swimmers, families and teachers.
We ask that children, parents, carers and visitors treat one another, our staff and the facility with kindness and respect.
Our Commitment to Your Child
At Melissa Corby’s Learn to Swim, our goal is not simply to move children through swimming levels.
We want every swimmer to develop confidence, independence, strong swimming skills, water awareness and a lifelong respect for the water.
Every child is an individual, and we are committed to supporting their swimming journey with patience, encouragement and care.
